Quality door opening mechanism! S2

Post by Andy G » Thu Jun 08, 2006 10:39 pm

My passenger door has stopped opening from the outside!

You push the button but the door no longer releases!

Still works with the inner door release and central locking still unlocks it.....any thoughts???

Get it fixed before the inside stops working too it's probably just the rod needing re attached or adjusted. If it stops working you either need to remove the door pannel or the gorillas rip the door to bits with non technical instruments
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Turn the key?

Nah, on mine the barrell was jamming hence you could open the door but not close it!

Sounds like the mechanism from the barrell to latch - try taking off the reflector (on the end of the door) and have a swatch...

Cheers,
Ali

MY drivers side on the Exige failed within a month in the same manner - they replaced the release mechanism. Remove the door panel and it should be pretty obvious what's wrong. As you are out of warranty it might make sense to try and repair the old mechanism rather than buying a whole new one!

Ah - no I just re-read your post - mine was the opposite - the inside handle didn't work while the outside button did ... how hard can it be <sigh> ...

Cheers,
Robin
