Wheels for an old Audi - NLC, VAG geeks only!

Post by campbell » Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:04 am

Checking something out for a friend here.

Try this one then...

Will a set of Golf/Bora alloys like these...

...fit on an Audi A4 of M-reg, approx 1994 vintage? Albeit with potentially adjusted tyres to make rolling radius right.

Mainly interested if the offset is OK etc. Car is currently on approx 195/15 err 65 (?) tyres, so presumably would have to run 195/55 section tyres to maintain rolling radius.

How interchangeable are VAG rims across models and vintages?

From memory they wont fit, Audi PCD is 5 x 112 and the Golf/Bora is 5 x 100.

ET is roughly the same 32-35 for audi and 35 for Bora.

Thanks Phil, very useful.

"PCD"?

"ET"?

Just so that I know what I'm asking when I find another seller!

PCD - Pitch Circle Diameter
ET- Offset (think ET is an abbreviation of the German word for offset)

Offset is the distance of the mounting face from the centreline of the wheel. You want this to be roughly correct or you wheels will either hit on something or stick out too far - Carlos Fandango stylee. :D

PCD is basically the distance the stud holes are apart from each other.

ET is the offset, the smaller the number the further out from the car they stick.

Phil is spot on. Audi A4 is a pcd 5x112 as is the A6, passat etc, Bora and Golf and A3, well old A3 are 5x110. I have a set of these in the garage but think they'll go on the car when I come to sell it and the Lambo wheels will be for sale seperate... Might be selling soon..
