I was driving the car "enthusiastically" (how adictive is that....) yesterday and after a blast the engine light came on solid. Crap I thought. Bought a code reader from Halfords (on loan - will be taken back and refunded to morrow).
It was a gunson reader and when connected (after I repaired the broken black wire on the plug in the foot well) I just got an ERR code. Nothing else.
I have also bought another code reader so will see what that says.
Anyway, today after some moderat driving (taking my 4 year old to school - he was in his element with the roof off) the light has gone out on its own. Is this normal?

Re: Engine light on.....off
Yes.
The light will go off after a certain number of cycles if the condition was transient. The code will still be stored in the ECU though, so you can see what was up with it.
Cheers,
Robin
