Getting new tyres. Tracking or full Geo setup?
I am getting 2 new tyres on the front. The inner edge is badly scrubbed on the passenger tyre.
The geo was done about 12 months ago, previous owner. Do I just get the tyres fitted (bridgestone) or do I have the tracking done too, or go ther full hog and get the Geo done?
Is there somewhere in the Falkirk area that can do this or do I head for Edinburgh? And what sort of cost? I can get the tyres for around £100 each from mytyres.
thanks

Re: Getting new tyres. Tracking or full Geo setup?
There is no need to redo the tracking when changing tyres, never mind a complete Geo check.
If it was done a year ago and you have no reason to suppose that it has changed, it should be fine.

Thanks for the reply, but do the tyres normally wear on the inside edge? I would say the outside edge is around 4mm while the inside 20% is a slick?
Thanks

If it's only one tyre I'd look at getting it checked. If it was both front tyres, and they had worn the same you could say it was set up like that but only one doesnt sound right to me.

I would say they are both similar, the passenger side is more worn though. Could be the tyres were changed at different times I suppose.
I will get the tyres done and see how it goes with this set.
Then depending on the wear I can take the required action.
Thanks.

Re: Getting new tyres. Tracking or full Geo setup?
I would look to get the full Geo done. Normally it isn't required, as previously mentioned, but you did say that the previous owner had set the geo prior to selling. It's entirely possible that he set the car up with an aggressive geo for track work etc, where as your usage may be different and hence not rolling the tyre as much leaving the inner edges to feather.
I've notice this on my own car since it's been retired from track and have now put a more standard geo setting.
