NLC - Boxster S - Creaking coming from Steering

Post by a4drk » Fri May 29, 2009 6:31 pm

Hello
I've posted this on the Boxanet forum - probably wait about 3 weeks for an answer.......
anyway - hopefully someone can help - it's probably just a "general" car problem.

My 2000 X reg Boxster is Creaks & squeaks when driving slow & over bad road surfaces / speed bumps etc.
(Well - its more noticeable at these speeds)
When stationary, if you turn the steering wheel to the left slightly - you can make it creak.

Any ideas what it could be?

I'm dreading it needs replaced.......

Thanks

David

PS - its done 60,000

This is caused by the rubber bush in the lower TCA failing. It allows the arm that connects to that bush to lie on top of the TCA and this in turn causes it to creek. Had it a couple of times both on the boxster and 911.
The bad news is you need to buy a new arm. I have just ordered one as I have the same problem on the 911.

I get my stuff from Design 911 here

6th item down on this page is what you need.

If you click the picture it will show you the drawing of the suspension, whats causing the noise is item 17 rubbing on item 21 because the bushing in thwe middle of 21 has failed.
