R888 rear and A048 front?

Post by Deany1986 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 8:24 pm

Hi,

I currently have A048's all round though think after this saturdays SIDC trackday I may be in need of new rear tyres very shortly after.

Would i be okay to put R888's on the rear (as would save me some pennies and are from what ive read slightly harder wearing) with my semi worn 048's on the front? Or am I better sticking to the same tyre on all four corners?

Thanks in advance for replies.

Kevin.

Tis always better having the same tyre all round, but I regularly mix 48's and 888's front and rear depending on wear and availability as they are very similar tyres.

If I have to change them with Ronnie at KH cos they are not legal for home, again it depends on which he has.

ps 48's do have the edge but you are paying more for them.

If you think you will need new tyres after, phone Ronnie now to make sure he has some with him, he doesn't carry a huge stock.

Tut R888's are now the same price as 48's, Toyo have put their prices up 4 times in the last year according to Ronnie.

Cheers for the replies, if they are the same price think I will stick with the 048's then. Will give Ronnie a call tonight or tomorrow morning to check if he will have them available.

Cheers Kenny, in that case they can stick them.

I can not justify new R's at present with the spares that I have, so am bringing down a couple of Bridgestones that I bought on FF06 to fit after the track session.

Any idea how much rear 48s for a S2 exige would cost? I will need them at some point between SIDC and FF8

Since we are talking about tyres,

I have just took a set of p6000 of my old Elise wheels. Fronts are fooked but both rears are at 6mm.

Ok they are not 888's but if someones running road tyres and they are getting a bit low........ havn't a clue what they are worth but would like to get shot of them, so make me an offer.

Cheers

Thanks for the offer, was considering it but would struggle to get the tyres up to knockhill as will have a passenger with me. Have now phoned Ronnie and have 2 rears waiting for me for after the trackday and if there is any life left in my current tyres will try get them home somehow and save them for another day.

Thanks again,

Kevin.

I had that combo last year.....I got a wee bit more understeer in the wet and not a huge difference in the dry.
