Wierd temperature readings

Post by BiggestNizzy » Sat Jul 11, 2009 11:42 am

After fixing the car (new shocks, handbrake cable) I took it for a drive (car is fantastic now) I noticed my temp gauge on the dash going a bit wonky (sh*t myself) it dropped down from the usual 86 to 75 and once to 55  before going back up to 82 where it stayed for the rest of the journey it now hovers around 80-82 and goes to 84 if you are sitting.

no HGF signs either is it just a wonky sensor ? and where do you get replacements

When it does that it is normally electrical, ie an earth problem in my case, sits steady until lights or fan are turned on then goes in stages upto 115 depending on load.

If it's dropping low then it could also be the thermostat stuck open.
