I was under te imppression that the fans cut in at 105.
i thot i would test my fans were working by getting to this temp,
Fans cut in at 97 and stopped at 92.....
has there been a revision on newer models?
mines is a 07 exige s2 july registered i think.
i tested this twice and yep defo 97 on the dials and down to 92 !!

Re: Rad fan ...interesting?!
It's correct, I think.
On the S2 the dash temperature is more directly linked to the temperature seen by the ECU (they come from the same sensor), so there is better correlation between the dash temperature and fan cut in point (the ECU controls both things, if you see what I mean).
On the K-series S2 the fan should cut in just before 100C and out again just before reaching 90C. I don't know what the answer is for the toyota engine, but I cannot imagine it being much different.
On the S1 it might seem like the ECU switches the fan on/off at different temperatures, but that might well be because the dash is hooked up to a different sensor than the ECU and the dash is susceptible to errors in the temp reading due to ground offsets between the dash and the back of the car. In fact, I don't think anybody really knows what temperature the ECU has to see to turn the fan on/off on the S1 (unless somebody has monitored it with the LotusScan tool to work it out).
I would be happy with the 97/92 setup ....
Cheers,
Robin

Re: Rad fan ...interesting?!
Why are you bothering with the expense of an alloy radiator if there's nothing wrong with your current one? Remember its a clam off job so £££. I've got an early yota in mine and the fan doesn't cut in till 105. Not had any problems with it other than having to see 105 on the dash which was a bit unnerving to start with.

Re: Rad fan ...interesting?!
i had one of the pipes blow off in mine when in traffic, and once that happened i found out that the lotus rad is cack with it's plastic ends and has a high rate of cracking.
although my first instance was pipe related and i attached it back on and tightened up, nothing has happened since.
more of a pre-emtive fix,
