Camshaft Replacement

Post by Shandy » Sat Jul 11, 2009 5:22 pm

I am running a 1700 Crossflow (Kent) Ford Engine.

Camshaft is shot – typical soft Ford original piece, it’s going to be replaced by a Kent fast road/track unit.

This job is a bit too much for myself and father in-law to tackle, not for the technical aspect, but for the fact of the inappropriate tools.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a decent garage in Arbroath, I know a few of the local guys who are very good, just wondering if there is any other recommendations for older type engine work?

Cheers

There is an old school garage south of Montrose that does a lot of work on the historic stuff.. buggered if I can remember the name, they do restorations and prep stuff for hillclimbs as well. We ran a thread about maybe visiting it just to look at some of the classics he has in. Near the place where the bloke from "Manifold" takes his kids to school..

Cant remember the name but thats where I would take it... someone else will be along in a mo with the name...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Been there not that impressed, they have done work for me before and did not even set the timing correct .... never mind the carbs!!
That’s part of the reason for me looking elsewhere.. but thanks for the input.

Ricky Gauld is an old dinosaur so he should be able to work fine with a x-flow

Bit of a distance from Arbroath, but he's probably your best option overall for that kind of thing.
