quick question....maybe dumb...
Re: quick question....maybe dumb...
My Mum recounts with much mirth the trip she and my Dad made to France in a mini in the 60s. Poor wee thing was overheating so they had to drive around with the heater on full ... she had to hang her feet out the window it was that hot. How she worked the pedals I'll never know...

Thats what I do, also helps to keep the revs up while at stand still in traffic to keep coolant circulating around the system...a/c is for woofters!ClarkyBoy wrote:all you need to do is screw your heater up - blast the fan on full bore and you will see your temp drop off - as heat is removed from the rad and distributed through the cabin, irrespective of whether or not it has aircon or not, its something i have allways gone buy and it works, obviously for a prolonged time on traffic there is only so much the fan can do but usually does the job till you can get moving again....usually...

Re: quick question....maybe dumb...
Eng temptur is controld by the Thermostatick valve controling coulent flow to the radator.
The fan onlay oporats when ther is insfishont air flow to drop the colant temptur in the radator.
Ruff figers) The thermostat starts to open 83 and the fan starts when the radator gets to 90.

Why?vxc wrote:full heater and fans going with the aircon on...that can only lead to problems....might try it.....
Aircon isn't just for cooling the car, it's also mega useful in the winter as it drys out the air. Crank the heat up (cos it's cold in the car) turn the aircon on (to demist the windows MUCH quicker) Job done.
To many people assume aircon is just for hot days, and spout the line 'just roll the windows down'
All that said, the only car i've ever owned with air con needed a recharge
i believe to accompany Clarkys comments about cranking the heat up that it might be worth brgining the revs up a bit too as it increases the water circulation and as the water has to travel the length of the car and back before re-entering the engine, the water will cool well just by circulating?
I might be the one spouting lines here though
