Hi again,
I have upgraded toe links on the elise, they've done around 12,000 miles and I've found that if you bounce on the suspension and hold the passenger side toe link I can feel a slight knock, but cant on the passenger side. I assuming this means that something is on its way out, but does fixing it mean new toe links? or can you buy replacement bits? (I have had a google around but not really found anything).
Also I think the front drivers wheel bearing is going as there is the odd chirp/squeeling noise when going round corners and again a slight knock if I wiggle the wheel. Not ever replaced a wheel bearing on a Lotus, is it complicated or straight forward? I'm by no means a mechanic but can get by with the straight forward stuff

.
Cheers guys/gals,
Graeme

Check the bolts that hold it to the upright (outboard end of the toe link). Remove the bolts and look for signs of damage, also check that they are tight before removing them. I would replace the bolt anyway. Often the knock is actually the bolt, not the spherical bearing. Also it can be hard to properly tighten the inboard end, so it's worth checking that's tight too. Any suspension bolt that's been run loose needs to be thrown in the bin and replaced ASAP. Don't just tighten it up - it will have been damaged and will eventually snap - the loads on the toe link are large ...
Cheers,
Robin
