My dipstick is stuck :-(

Post by hendeg » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:02 am

Roll up, roll up, get your joke in here...

The dipstick on the Exige just won't budge. Accepting that I am a weakling, I've also used a wee bar through the loop to give me more leverage but no joy. I can twist it both ways but there's just no movement.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Gary.

Spray some wD40/oil in the top then twist to let it seep down to the o-ring?
Its gotta be the first 40mm thats stuck so shouldnt take much to free it, cheers Craig.

"When I picked up my car from Tracy, she was showing me around the car and I decided to just check the dipstick since the engine compartment was open.......The car hadn't been run and I had a real hard time trying to get it out, so not wanting to break anything, I just left it.

Later after the car had run, I was able to get it out much easier by slightly twisting while pulling. I don't know if had anything to do with everything being warm or not."

Mine got stuck once although some forceful tugging managed to free it.

Its either the o-ring has rolled off its seat or general gunge making it difficult to pull out.

Try when the engine is warm and the tube has expanded. twist when pulling helps.

/waits for many fnarr fnarr responses.

gary, as craig suggested, lube her up............and as phil suggested, twist and tug once the it has warmed up.......

now if there are not too many jokes there and too little time to mention them all i have nothing more constructive to add!

Clark you youngster, been there, seen it, done it, to more things than you could even insert a dipstick into.
