Isn't there an issue with using rally bulbs in that they draw too much current through the wiring which makes the wires brittle?

I went for brighter versions of the standard bulbs. 2 for 1 in Halfords which made them about £15 for 2 bulbs. Def. made an improvement on the dipped beam (S1). Mine are pretty corroded though and 1 has a slight crack in it

I'll check out the bulb options as soon as I can. The car is getting SORNed at the end of the month anyway. Then the HID upgrade can be done but anything to help in the next couple of weeks would be handy. Maybe I should start carrying a torch with me to point out the window when it gets a dark :P

Cant help thinking it would be nice to be on the other end of a bright set of headlights for a change. I'm fed up being blinded by all the pathetic "soft roaders" we get down here.

IIRC Sanj melted his bulb holders.

I went for the slightyl lower spec bulbs, still an improvement.

I thought the same, and did the same. I have the 20/30% brighter halfrauds bulbs with the same ratings as standard bulbs. Combined with my rust free s1 lamps, they are still crap, but a different level of crap ;)

It's only 3 years or so since my girlfriend had a Mini that didn't even have halogens ;)

I also melted the bulb connectors, but cut them off and replaced with really good quality ceramic ones I found on a classic car site.
