Hardtop Respray Glasgow?

Post by Turtlepower » Fri Jan 08, 2010 1:11 pm

Happy New Year Chaps!

Hopefully a straight forward one this, I purchased a hardtop for my S1 in November last year as my car lives outside in Glasgow. Wanted the 'slight' added security and, as it turns out, minimal improvement to water tightness!

My car is new aluminium and I want to paint the roof black, as it is currently blue. Do any of you guys happen to know where I can get this done cheapish in/around Glasgow? I'm not that bothered if it is the best job on the world.

Any ideas how much I'm looking at? Popped into the Peugeot Bodyshop across from my office and the guy want £350 plus VAT which seems ridiculous?

Cheers

Might be worth keeping an eye on seloc classifieds / ebay and just buying a black one / selling your blue on?

Assuming it's the dark Azure blue, I'm fairly certain that was the most common colour for an S1 so shouldn't be too hard to sell on?

If it was warmer i'd paint it for you for a lot less than £350.

I don't have an oven though so it'd be dicing with a runny death trying it in this climate.

If you can hold off till it's a touch warmer then i can sort it for you?

I got my s1 hardtop repaired / painted at TouchUps behind shawfield. Good job and was about £50 or £45 from memory. That was to repair the corner and blend/paint the rest.

Been quoted £150 for solid black or £180 for metallic at Touch-Ups. Still waiting to hear back from one other place but that sounds a bit more like it!

Unless i get a much better quote elsewhere, doubt it, think I will be phoning back to book it in!

Thanks for the info!

Got quoted £150 last year to have the corners on my hard top repaired and it fully resprayed for £150

Guy in Stewarton, can't remember his name.

Edit going to do some sums over the weekend and visit some of the local paintshops Febuary is the start of project wow.
