111R 2nd Cam

Post by Kinger » Mon May 17, 2010 10:22 pm

Hi,

I was talking to Tut at the weekend and he mentioned it was possible to reduce the Rev level that the 2nd Cam kicks in, can anyone confirm if this can be done on the 111R ?. And if it is, where its best to get it done and roughly how much it costs. Also if you think its worth doing.

Cheers

You can get it lowered to 5700rpm. MMC are doing it for something like £150. They've got to send the ECU off to Lotus for flashing so your car will be off the road for a few days. Had booked mine in to get it done then found out its only possible if you've got a B120 ECU if its a cable throttle - mines got an A120 so I'd have to get a new ECU which makes things a bit expensive  From what I've read its well worth getting it done and makes the car a lot easier to drive on road.

According to the B & C site both A & B ECUs can be re-mapped

you're correct Neil, B & C states only the B type can be re-mapped if you have a cable throttle

Kinger,

I had mine done by Chris Neil.

http://www.oakmeremotorgroup.co.uk/lotu ... U-Re-Flash

Get in touch and email them your details, ECU number, etc. They'll tell you if it can be done.

Cost was £150. I Highly recommend it. You'll realise how much of a torque dip there is before the 2nd cam comes in pre re-flash.

Speak to david bryce on this forum he has just had his done.

I have Brian J's old Exige and the ECU on this has been flashed to bring the 2nd cam in at 5700rpm.

Thanks guys for all the help,

Excuse my ignorance, can you tell me where the ECU is located so I can move things along a bit further.

ECU is behind engine on the firewall. Top left as you look into your engine bay.

Two connecting cables which are a slight PITA to remove. Watch you don't drop the securing bolts into the engine bay when you remove them!!

Good Luck

Also, before removing the ECU make sure you remove the -ve battery terminal from the battery. If you have an alarm you'll need to disarm that immediately before removing the -ve battery terminal.

Hi,

Thanks for all the help. Spoke to Craig at MMC this morning, I'm going to get them to do it when I go on holiday, great price too.

Cheers
