I have a s2 111s and about a year ago maybe longer my fan heater started to only blow hot air which i thought was better than only cold
but now im getting this earthy dry burning smell coming out

Im ok about it stuck on hot its this burning smell that is concerning me ?

Does it only smell when the fan is spinning, or do you detect the smell even long after the fan has not been spinning?
If the smell is only there when the fan is spinning then I would be thinking that it's the fan blade rubbing against the cowling ... maybe you've had a bump in the car and broken the fan motor mounting plastic.
If the smell is there all the time, maybe you've got something organic into the fan housing via the air inlet at the front of the car ...
Cheers,
Robin

Do all the fan speeds work?
Does it smell on high speed?
Does the fan make any other noises?
Stuck on heat could possibly just be the baffle sticking.

You need to remove the front clam to get to the heater/blower on an S2. Even then it's far from trivial

The resistor coils are exposed in the fan casing on the earlier model S2 fans. Is there a chance that a leaf/debris has got caught in them causing a burning smell when it's on?
It's just a thought no doubt someone will say if that is a lot of rubbish
If it is the older type you can access the resistor section of the fan from the access panels. You could unscrew, remove and check over.

I'm pretty sure the resistor pack is passive on the highest speed, so the smell would go on highest speed if it were the resistor pack burning something - but it could easily be a load of leaf mulch on the heater matrix or similar.
You can do some inspection by removing the inspection panels and then pulling the alu air pipe from the blower, turn the fan on (ignition on, engine off) and smell what comes out - if it's honking, follow your nose to see if you work out where it's coming from ...

Resistor pack seems like a likely problem, given that the fan has also failed

Just seen your thread last night but didn't get round to posting to say it will fail on at least one speed if not competely shortly...as it has done.
What causes the buring smell is the little plastic electrical connector covers that burn out as the connection shorts. There is a good thread written by JohnCam on how to replace the resistor pack which I used. Shows as a clam off job but can be done through the service panels with a lot of swearing and scraped knuckles

. At least myself and Tenkfeet have done it this way. I'll try and find it and post the link.
