Larini or 2bular on Exige S?
Larini or 2bular on Exige S?
I have an exige s 240 and am looking at upgrading the exhaust to make it sound like it should. First point of call was 2bular but I'm wondering if the track friendly exhaust with same exit as standard is a little boring - need to do trackdays but dont care if I can't go to bedford.
Other option is the larini which on youtube sounds great.
Any positives/negatives about either?
I want the standard look so no gt exits, but need it to sound great but trackable and not droney(sp?) during motorways at 4k.

Go for Tubular GT3, exits in the grill which will need removed and looks much better IMO. I had no problems with tracks regarding noise and I had a complete bigger manifold with sports cat. Never did Bedford though?

I do worry about heat (my plate fell off on the FF due to heat) but I'm not a big fan of the gt exit - makes it look too much like a track car, i like subtlety(sp?) hence the reason for a standard exit. I dont want to worry about noise at trackdays (had enough of that in the vx) but do want a nice growl.

You can get a replacement blancking panel which makes it look more or less standard just with a hole for the GT3 exit. Trouble is, on here with tubular being scottish Ive not heard much people use anything else. I do remember the best souding elise though, Tuts N1 N/A honda with a Larini, best I remember anyway.

I've got a 24*8 2bular GT3 on my NA Exige, replacing a much smaller 2bular backbox that was on previously. Although the new one is much quieter (and thus trackday friendly), it still has a similar sound to the old exhaust, just not the same volume

An 8" system from Eliseparts would do the job nicely. They do a standard exit jobbie.
Really nicely made and fully repackable. Very good value for money.

I had a Larini on my NA Exige. Sounded fantastic but within only 3 or 4 k miles it got steadily louder as the sound deadening disintegrated. It was replaced under warranty, but the next one went the same way too. Next time I would look for a repackable exhaust and not a Larini.

If your car is anything like mine, there is a lot of heat shielding to consider - if you replace the back box and pipes with larger ones, I don't know how much of the heat shielding will need replacing - worth finding out whether any of these boxes will work with the standard heat shields.

Agree with Mark, I think I was the first to try a Larini and the packing did not last very long. However when I rang them they were not interested, said that I must have been using in ways that it was not designed for.
Craig, don't know if you remember, but when Rich brought the car up in 2004 after the conversion, it had the Sprint Racing exhaust on it. I went for a run up the road and it sounded fantastic, but I then changed to the Larini as it was a bit too loud for normal use. The Larini also sounded good but got louder as the packing burnt out, and that is still on.

Big thumbs up for jim a 2bular
I got a new rather radical 2bular system but not from jim , Jim has gone out of his way and sent me a unusual rear box to suit this system foc including post at his cost , now that is fantastic after sales customer service not even to the guy that ordered the system in the first place
this guy does not just flog them he designs and builds them from a back ground related to exhausts and performance
and in my case customer service beyond any expectations
