A question about washers

Post by Sanjøy » Sun Aug 22, 2010 11:56 pm

Evening, my garage doors are sitting too low and dragging on the ground and I want to raise them up by putting in some washers on the two "pegs" the hinges are on. The fastenings on the door are pretty old as are the pegs so moving them would be a no go.

The pegs themselves are 1 inch in diameter which I think equates to a M27 washer

I need to raise things almost an inch so would need a few of them top and bottom and begrudge paying >£1 a washer then the same again on postage.

Any funky ideas ?

Cheers

Have a tame machinist make some spacers. Nizzy?

What he said, get some measurements and draw what you want with dimensions and see if one of the machinist types can knock you some up out of steel or ali.

I can do it but I have to buy all my metal stock in small quantities so it costs a fortune... :thumbsup

I had to do the same with the front gates. I just used two spare wheel bearing nuts left over after replacement.
