Well, the cable arrived from HK today.

Changed the setting on the stereo to AUX ON (instead of off for I-pod) and it works.

I-Pod cable converted to take a 3.5mm jack into headphone socket. Sorted!!

Correct as it's coming through the headphone socket of my mobile phone, it's purely just the stereo audio.
