Is this possible - remote control content.

Post by ed » Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:44 pm

Is it possible for a CE approved remote control to make batteries expand / explode in a short period of time.
Basically I sold a remote on ebay which the guy says is faulty and wants his cash back. I foolishy didnt write down the code of the quality control sticker but im 99% it was different from the one he sent back. The one thats come back has a hugely expanded / melted battery compartment / covered in dry battery internals amd is grubby whereas the one i sent was brand spanking.

I believe its not the same one, but even if it is surely the fault lies with the batteries he used and not the remote control. I tested it to make sure it worked. He says it worked once and then it got really hot. If this is the case then pull the batteries and sent back. (surely)
I think hes pulling a fast one, thoughts please. :thumbsup

Have you got the serial number to compare? A battery disaster could stem from putting the batteries in pole to pole or compeltely the wrong way round, don't know for use though.

TBH sounds like someone trying to pull a fast one.

CE approval means nothing; anyone can stick a CE sticker on in good faith (or in bad, as they wish).

What type of battery?

Cheers,

I would be more guided by his feedback or lack thereof. Does sound a bit fishy though.

He trying to rip you off but unless you can track back to get your serial no for the remote you sent him you're going to struggle. I guess either face him out and risk bad feedback.or refund/ replace the goods and take the loss.
Either way the buyer is a scumbag that deserves outing if there is the opportunity.

As has been said already, he's trying to rip you off. Sounds like the batteries have leaked in the remote he's sent you. This wouldn't be an overnight process to get in the state it sounds in. Absolutely no way he's sent you back the same remote you sent him

Notify e-bay about the dispute and get your story in first, his batteries leaked damaging the remote, not the other way around. (plus it wasn't the remote you sent him)

His claim (If he has one) is with the battery supplier not you. You have no control about his happy shopper batteries.

You could of course make up a serial number and say this one is different... he can hardly pull you up on that can he...

Hi Guys,

cheers for the input.

Fortunately the deal was done outside ebay but he did pay with paypal and has raised a paypal dispute which he will lose (hopefully).

Will let you know

Is it CE (conformité européenne) or CE (Chinese Export)!!!

No joke - they are copying the marking.....it crept up on some of the kit that arrived at my work and we discovered the CE marking was horse sh*t!!!
