S1 Lotus Badge
S1 Lotus Badge
I drove Glasgow to Edinburgh this morning and when I got out of the car noticed a strange metal "thing" in the radiator grill - the Lotus badge on the nose had come off and been caught in the front cowling!
As I understand it, these are bolted on, and the bolt is intact so the nuts must have loosened over time and fallen into the front clam. Is there a way to refit the badge that doesn't require the clam removal? I'm thinking epoxy resin like Araldite might do the job?

My car? Oh, it's the little yellow thing over there.

Re: S1 Lotus Badge
If you pop the front grille out (2 placcy fixings on the top, 2 pins that just locate loosely into crash structure on bottom), then you can probably access behind the badge?
Otherwise silicone, araldite etc will all prob be fine for re-gluing I guess.

Just use something like tiger seal to stick it back on - job done.

There is a technique for removing the badge without removing the clam if the badge is still bolted on; buff down the enamel, mark where the studs are and drill them out.
Re: S1 Lotus Badge
If you have driving lights the grill will come out, otherwise as above.
If you glue it on scumbags trying to steal it will do less damage...

And the saddest thing of all is that my clam was off very recently, and I should have known better!!Shug wrote:No you can't, bolts are behind the crash structurecampbell wrote:If you pop the front grille out (2 placcy fixings on the top, 2 pins that just locate loosely into crash structure on bottom), then you can probably access behind the badge?

Re: S1 Lotus Badge
Hmm, I've got a new badge for mine, but have no idea how much of a job removing the front clam is to get the old one off! This does sound easier in any case!woody wrote:As Shug saidShug wrote:No you can't, bolts are behind the crash structurecampbell wrote:If you pop the front grille out (2 placcy fixings on the top, 2 pins that just locate loosely into crash structure on bottom), then you can probably access behind the badge?
