Hello Forum Members,
Shoulda joined before something bad happened - then you don't look like a selfish numpty... anyway;
My S2 (2002) K-series won't start. Seems like the immobilser is banjaxed somehow. Have done the suggested hold-the-two-buttons-down-on-the-cobra-fob thing, as well disconnect/reconnect the battery thingy. Neither worked. Same with spare fob...
Symptoms, put key in ignition, turn, hear usual clicking, Stack module needles flicker and lights come on. press small gray button on cobra fob, turn key to start and...
This happened after I had left the key in the ignition overnight (not turned beyond entry position, tho'...) Have also tried jump starting from the other car - but doesn't seem like the ELise's battery is flat tho (headlights lights come on strong...)
Any ideas - good people of the forum..?
Many thanks

Re: Newbie - with a 'stuck' immobiliser...
To help diagnose the fault it's important to do things in the right order.
First remove key and wait 30s.
Now does the light on the stack blink indicating the immob has self-armed?
Assuming it does, when you press the fob button (key still not in) does the light stop blinking?
Now key in and turn to run position (i.e. one before start).
Do you hear the bzzzt from the fuel pump priming (should last 3-5 seconds I think)?
Now once everything is quiet again and you turn the key to the start position do you hear a click from the engine bay? When you release the key you should hear another click.
Cheers,
Robin

Hi Guys,
thanks so much for the pinter to Robin's original post. it worked a treat, it was exactly same situation. What an amazing group of people to now belong to..!
Got it sorted yesterday afternoon, in between family commitments (Elise ownership would have been so much easier when I was young a single - oops, but I had no money back then...
Many , many thanks to Nell and Robin.
