Blue injectors

Post by Victor Meldrew » Wed Aug 30, 2006 7:51 am

My car has cream coloured injectors, there is a manifold for sale on Ebay with Blue injectors. Are these higher flow and is it a worthwhile upgrade without changing to the Emerald...?

My car spec so far.

Factory 135. VVC manifold, 56mm throttle, 4to1 manifold, Cat bypass, Janspeed exhaust. Coolflow filter.

As far as I know it has std cams. :?:
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Changing the injectors would be a bad thing unless you also changed the ECU. The ECU assumes injector performance and cannot compensate for over fuelling on heavy throttle if you use larger injectors. If you wanted to overfuel, you could just turn up the fuel pressure a few PSI ...

The standard injectors are good for fuelling up to around the 190-200BHP mark depending on fuel pressure and who you talk to.

Cheers,
Robin

How do you up the fuel pressue with a std regulator, is it possile?

I'm pretty sure I'm running lean cos of all the extra guff that is hanging off it, and I have a fair amount of pops and gurgles all the time (Esp when on warm up cycle) I think I remember that that is underfuelling related. Any thoughts?

Blue injectors are from the 1.4 K and have a LOWER flow rate. Beige injectors are more than you'll need.

DVA's got a trick - Construct a bit of kit with a pump and a pressure gauge - plumb the gauge in before the regulator and find out what pressure it's set to just now. You can then crush the body slightly in a vice with suitable sockets, as it's the spring pressure in the regulator that does it's thing, you can then increase the pressure by crushing the regulator (slightly)

Obviously, it's a one-way street and you would need an understanding of how much extra pressure you'd want. DVA would probably be your man to ask on that.... Also worth having a spare in case you fubar it...
