S2 heating control backlight

Post by colintinto » Fri Nov 11, 2011 11:12 am

Hi All,

Trying to adjust my heating controls last night, I realised that they used to light up?

Hard to tell, but it looks like there is still a bit of a glow that comes and goes.

Anybody had/fixed this issue?

I don't think they do, mine certainly don't. Seems like that would add undue weight ;)

I just checked mine and it doesn't light up either. Not sure that it ever did.

Just got an email about this from our friendly neighbourhood MMC service manager (he reads, but can't post)

"....It will be the switch pack behind the satc unit as it provides the power to the circuit ..Common also easy to confirm if the re circulation switch doesn't illuminate."

So, if your recirculation switch isn't lit up, then it's likely a switch pack and a common fault - not sure how easy it is to get at, but with what Craig's saying, I'd guess dash off?

Ah, to clarify my post from Craig, satc was a typo - it's behind the Stack. So no full dash off, just the stack.

Don't have AC, but checked again the other night, and it's not totally gone, but comes and goes, so something is loose or failing.

Guess that's the solution then!

I think it would be worth checking the connections behind the heater controls, I've had experience of these coming loose.
It's simple 2 screws to remove the cover, so only 5 mins to check...
