Larini Club Sport Exhaust

Post by Jordan » Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:30 am

I was watching a few videos on youtube with elises that have this exhaust fitted... Amazing sound!
Considering buying it for my 2001 S2 the oval exhaust on the sports tourer doesnt give off the sound i had expected from it.

Does anyone have one fitted on there Elise? Just wondering if fitting is straight forward enough and also what they make of the system itself...

I had a Larini CS on my 111s. (no doubt, appearing very soon @ one of the breakers specialising in elises.)

to answer your questions -

Is it easy to fit? - no more difficult than any other exhaust. can be done by someone with basic mechanical skills.

Quality? - Very well made.

Does it make a difference? In performance, Negligible. In exhaust note - Hell yes. Sounded great on full chat but you pay the price on M/way cruising refinement. if this concerns you, then the Larini sport might be a good compromise.

I had the Club Sport (round pipes) on my 135R, but it still had the cat. Didn't find it too bad on the motorway, and some lovely crackles & pops on downshift. Can't comment on fitting, because it was on there when I bought it from Murrays... but looked like a pretty straight forward fit.

I had one on my old car, now Stewart's car but possibly off to France soon now that the fried ECU is fixed. It's by far the best sounding K series exhaust in my opinion. If you're buying for a standard car, you might find the rear grilles don't fit the tailpipes as they are round not oval like your old exhaust so you'd possibly have to buy 111S grilles.

Fitting is fairly easy, can be done without jacking the car up. You might find getting your old one off is the hard part though, particularly if it's still the original one.

I remember going on a run with Simon when I had my S1 and thinking at the time that his was the best elise that I had ever heard. Last night after finally getting my car to start, I was again reminded just how awesome the K Series/ Larini/Hurricane combo sounds. Sounds even better in the garage.

You are welcome to pop along to hear mine if you wish, but it wont be going out of the garage again until it's new owner picks it up either this weekend or next. However, I am certain that you wont be disappointed if you just buy one 8)

P.S.
Also on that run was ScottyF with his S2 exige which I also went on to own. Not bad, I owned 3 out of 4 cars on that run :D The other car also on the run that day was Lee with his S2 chrome orange exige, the same as Scotty's.

I have the Larini Club Sport on my car, planning on taking a run up to the Perth meet on Sunday, more than happy to let you have a listen.

I've got a Club Sport on my s2 111s ( and K&N filter) and would consider it a fairly subtle sound and if you don't accelerate hard I would still class it as quiet. At motorway speeds you are still able to talk to passenger easily so whether car is everyday use or weekend use this exhaust is suitable. If anything with my weekend use I might consider a louder exhaust if it was every needing replaced although I do like the sound it makes.

In comparison, I've still got my S2 111r with Lotus Stage 2 and that is loud and is very boomy on motorway although I still like the noise and the pops from it. If this was daily use I think I would get tired of the noise.

Looks like you will get a chance to listen at the weekend which is the best way to judge.

PS Anyone varied filter/ filter boxes with a club sport and what difference do they make to a rover engine as interested if anything would change sound much from my K&N ?

Hello guys, i currently have a lotus stage 2 on my R but as it's my daily driver it tends to be a bit too loud and im thinking of fitting the OEM. Is the larini sport exhaust something in between? Also as i intend to supercharge the car in the near future is it sc friendly or will i need a fourth exhaust?!!!
Cheers,
Marios
