Wiper wont work........
Ok well the recent frost appears to have cost me the use of my window wiper. Long story short is that I tried to use it early one morning........turns out the wiper was still frozen to the window so it didnt move. Once the window had thawed out completely I tried the wiper but it only covered half the screen on the passanger side. A few more attempts and still no further than half way. By the time I finished work and came out at night the wiper had decided it wasnt even going to manage a half way sweep and now simply doesnt move at all. Suggestions!?

Try the fuse (location should be in your handbook) as it should have popped.
Part-working then failing completely tends to make me think burnt out motor though...

Doesnt appear to be the fuse
My fear was that it was the motor. Other than not working is there any other tell tale signs? Also (not being technically or mechanically minded) it says online that to replace the original motor costs approx £400? Is this true? Eliseparts is the source of that price but they also seem to do a replacement motor at £90?

Re: Wiper wont work........
I think the £400 is complete with bracket, linkage, etc. 90 for just the motor itself.
Maybe first worth checking it's not something simple in the linkage or even a loose screw holding the wiper arm on...

Hi Derek,
Up to mid 2002 the S2 had the same wiper motor assembly as the S1. The motor is not available from Lotus seperately so you have to buy the whole linkage assembly including motor. They are now over £500 from Lotus.
After mid 2002 they changed the design. Again only the whole assembly is available from Lotus but it is only £120.
Not sure if the Eliseparts motor will fit the later style linkage assembly if that's what you have.
Cheers
Dan
