S2 oil filter access from top-side?

Has any one ever managed to find an easy way to remove and refit the oil filter from the top of the engine bay? i.e. without getting under the car and removing the under-tray.
(Yes, I do know that I'd need to get under there to drain the sump any way...).

I looks to be impossible.

Yes, it's impossible.

Just take the tray off. You want to be having a good look around at everything under there anyway.
