IACV f.a.o. Mac

Post by tenkfeet » Tue Sep 12, 2006 7:02 pm

MAC You were right , cleaning the IACV sorted my idling problem . Couple of questions for everyone .

1.When spraying cleaner down the valve should it be a liquid tight seal ? Mine was not.

2.After I put it back on the idle stuck at 1300 then came down and fluctuated as before . The MIL light was also on solid . Did an ECU reset (as found on SELOC) ign off on pump pedal 5 times Mil light went out and the idle is fine . Even after a thrash its ok . Did you have any experience like this ?

I read your old post about splitting the manifold to get it off , I found an Alan key gets access to the bolts though a bit gash.

The rought idle is cos you will have conused the ECU as it didn't understand where the IACV was anymore. The reset will have fixed that. Mine ran rough for a few secs as the IACV hunted for position. The seal should be good, but no need to be watertight. The valve doesn't need to close altogether just trim the amount of air going in.

Throttle re-set thing only works that way with the S1 MEMS...

I believe (Mac, jump in here, any time) that the S2 just needs to be sat idling for 5 minutes so it learns it's own paramaters. It'll idle like sh*t for a wee while, then sort itself out. Sounds like you starting and stopping the car inadvertantly did that anyway.

What does the S2 have then? Is it plug and play and how is it different? The MEMS is pretty advanced (Multiple fuel maps etc) already

S2 have the Lotus K4 controller - thing it's a step beyond mems as its required for the OBD2 and some euro pish.

Still an overlapping multimapping deally.
