Tuning a two stroke (NLC)

Post by Sanjøy » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:57 pm

Afternoon, was hoping to do some work with the chainsaw today but troubled again with it refusing to start after say working for 15 mins. Low end saw but has all the relevant screws for tuning. Something a engine spud like I should attempt or put it in to get looked at as I do need a new bar as mine is a little off true.

Don't touch any screws

Lack of fuel or spark

Unscrew fuel cap - any vacuum hiss?
Tank vent maybe blocked

Clean air filter sponge as well

Next. Empty fuel out and put in a fresh mix
Modern fuel for some reason does not keep for long period of time

Still not starting?

Take out plug and pour a drop of fuel in bore
If it runs , were back to fuel starvation
Look and see if a fuel filter is fitted

Check plug/coil pack for spark etc

Mine does this from time to time and it's usually down to old fuel

:cheers

Fuel was fresh made up today.

Thinking the fuel tank vent as when using the priming bulb "in the field" it did not really feel like it was doing much.

With the air filter off I primed and saw little fuel moving for a few pumps then felt the resistance and the bulb fill properly and the air returning along the full fuel line.

Do not recall about fuel tank hiss.

Fuel filter looks clean, has had less than 4l through it since new, never make the fuel up in the field so nice and clean.

Checked here and could not find the fuel tank vent, ideas ?

Transpires there was a manufacturing fault in the saw too, engine seized a month or so ago. Really good service from http://www.worldofpower.co.uk who sorted picking it up, assessing it and then refunding.

Husqvarna 435 on its way, shouldn't have bought cheap in the first place.

I got my wee Husky from world of power. They even tuned it before sending it out. :)
