Heater pipe hell

Post by smee » Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:25 pm

Does anyone have any tips for refitting the alloy ducting for the heater? I went to change it because it looked old and now cannot fit either the new one (wall too thick and crumples) or the old one because the clutch hose is in the way and I'll be damned if I have to remove it and bleed the clutch over a stupid piece of alloy crap!

Any tips or would a silicone ducting pipe be better?

Thanks

I have never done the job your attempting, but have used similar piping on machinery. I've always found the best way is to gently stretch out about 10-20mm at end. In a way that it loses its concertina effect. Then use pliers to help shape and form end. If possible, try to twist from side to side as your pushing on. Sometimes a light pasting of grease can help. Take care as edges can get razor sharp.

Good luck
