Re: Steering Rack - S1 reborn
Trying to do a refurb myself. Got rack off easily enough (must have been lucky by the sounds of it but concerned re locking pins on rack itself.
All looks reasonably straight forward with standard tools but I am after some advice re the locking pins that are put in to lock the nut at the end of the rack after adjusting the tension on the cups. I figure the old ones need drilling out but where can I get new pins? (Titan have a £35 minimum order). Then I presume once I'm happy with position of lock nuts I have to redrill and pin in new position?
This just seems tricky for most people (including me) and a lot of people seem to have done there own refurb so wondered if there is an alternative with regard the locking pins.

I got all the bits from Titan and did it myself the locking pins are just a drill and then pein job.
It may be worth changing the bearings that the pinion runs on too . The ones that were in mine were poor quality - which is a shame given that poor ones are £1 and good ones are £2!
