Bloody cars.

Xsara vts. Drove it back from Edinburgh today where I'd dumped it so I could take the Elise away last week.

Ran fine on the motorway to work, but wouldn't start this evening as the inertia switch had tripped. Then it only ran on 3, then the AA cleared the fault but turning into the driveway tonight there's a clanging noise on "small amount of lock". It's not a broken spring but that's what it sounds like, I'm gonna jack it up tomorrow and have a look then drop it into the garage and get it up on their ramps.

But errm. Frankly I'm looking for sympathy rather than suggestions. All the signs are I've hit something on the way into work and bent/broken something but I didn't notice anything (maybe a pothole on the motorway! A vague memory.). Would the inertia not have tripped straight away?

Saw the shed outside MMC. I didn't recognise it. What have you done to my pristine collectible 135R. Is a shed.

Saw this on a Peugeot 406 once, guy parked it one night, wouldn't start next day, front spring had broken and tripped the inertia switch, of course he didn't know this so towed it to the garage, on the way the broken tail of the spring then unseated from the platform and punctured the tyre, luckily no speed involved or it could have been nasty.
Check the springs carefully as soon as you can.

Well done! That's exactly what's happened.

Got lucky TBH. I was at work and the car park is airside and no-one is allowed in without depositing their first born in a secure location so we had to tow the car landside before the AA could look at it.

After they started it I drove home (25 miles). I only noticed the noise turning into the drive and after that I drove it to the garage...

Last time it happened i shredded a tyre, a colleague managed to shred an alloy wheel
