*thread resurrection*

What did you end up doing Alan?

I was thinking, surely this stuff is just like the vinyl wraps that people get on their cars/vans, maybe a vinyl sign place could cut and apply... ?

I ended up spending £400 getting defendall in Perth to do it. Which I thought wasn't cheap

Have to say I am not impressed. The front doesn't cover all the front and has plenty of chips already. The sides is peeling off and looks terrible. A few of the corners aren't exactly square either.

I haven't been back with it as yet so I will give the guys an oppertunuty to fix it before I take things further. Been busy and with the weather the car is tucked away in the garage.

Just off the phone with Defendall.

Someone is coming up tomorrow to have a look at the car to come up with a solution, which is excellent. Hopefully they can come up with a fix.

I maybe have been a little quick with Defendall. If they come up with a solution then I would be happy. It's just after spending £400 on protection for it not too work is a little frustrating.

Keep you posted

Alan

P.S I personaly wouldn't have a go myself. They have templates and its something you have to have experience in fitting. IMO

You can get it done through Murray Lotus in Edinburgh. They got a guy in to do mine before I picked it up. Cost about £700 but best £700 I've spent.

....thread resurrection#2....

The film on my elise was looking rather yellowed after 14 years. All of the film arrived in the post from Murray's yesterday and I'm away to have a go at it.

I'm looking for some hints and tips re fitting the new stuff. I had a look at the premier paint guard site for basic info just now. Was going to use either a damp cloth or shower squeegee to smooth out the bubbles. Is the "solution" just water and fairy liquid?

Cheers, Angus

Seema a shame to get the new car blasted, careful as I have been the front splitter and lower clam have already been hit, so would quite like to do those bits.

The splitter bolts on so should be easy to respray and cover for starters.

I'm not an expert, but having patiently spend time protecting the exige I did get learn a few tricks.

Use plenty of the spray on liquid to keep everything wet film and car until you are happy with position the squeegee out from the middle.

If you get bubbles which you can squeegee out don't force it out and risk a crease, either peel it back and redo or if its small it will dry out.

If you have curves to go over, I found a little heat on first fit then pull it back and refit, gave the film some memory and helped greatly on the difficult sections.

Keep your hands wet to avoid putting finger prints on the film, other than do it on a day when you can take your time, it's not a job you can rush
