Rear Brake lines... fuel pump at the same time?

Post by Ferg » Thu Oct 23, 2014 9:32 pm

The S1 failed on rear brake lines today. They had been getting worse over recent years so fair enough. Obviously this is a nasty tank out job. Can't do it myself due to time ( and I'll admit to a lack of inclination too  ) so it's in to be sorted.

Since the tank is coming out, is there anything that I should do at the same time to save future labour costs?

My fuel pump has been getting noisey over the last year. Sign of future failure maybe?
Is there anything else in there that I should consider?

Cheers

I'm far from expert, but would be worth asking for a report on the condition of the tank while it's out... IMHO

Was good to see you yesterday, sorry to hear about the fails

The tanks are prone to corrosion so worth given it a clean up and lick of paint. Check inside as well especially at the top around the filler neck.
I have a spare original fuel pump if you need one.

Thanks chaps. I don't have time to do it myself before next weekend so it's in the garage to be done. I'll ask if they can report on the condition of the tank. I would have taken that offer of the pump Mike but unfortunately I've already bought a new one for it.

But all good, at least my revised headlight brackets passed and it'll be running for next Friday for Oulton Park!

Thanks for the tip. Tank was a little worse for wear and had that done at the same time. :-)
