Yeah I spotted the light bar, very cool!

I have HID's on high and low, and HID's for the driving lamps too, so the actual light output I have is pretty decent. It's more about the aesthetics tbh, I just think the standard headlights look cheap and old fashioned.

It's an interesting point that Tut raised though, at which point does altering a car from how it left the factory mean it ceases to be the car they intended it to be? Mechanicals are fair game, but not the bodywork? S2 suspension on an S1, a better exhaust, different wheels, or further still a Honda lump? I guess some people want completely original and others want to make it better/what they perceive to be better/their own. Would Lotus make the same S1 today if they could, or would they improve certain things, which either they couldn't afford at the time or they just weren't readily available?

For me, I love the S1, but I've always thought that some things could be improved and that includes parts of how it looks. I'm not even remotely precious about straying from the original car, as long as I feel it's a genuine improvement, and certainly not straying anywhere near the tacky chav brigade. Back on point for a second, I hate the lights on the S1 both front and back headlights and indicators. I want to improve how they look and their performance. Would Lotus not have done the same if LED/Xenon technology was more readily available in the mid 90's?

Rally bulbs melted my connectors too, years ago.

Anyway, there is a solution:

I had new headlights and headlight covers fitted last year. The headlight lenses had a little corrosion on them, and the light covers were fairly good in my opinion... until I saw them off the car. They were actually quite poor. Fresh lights and covers have made a big difference, used with some upgraded light bulbs. Not too expensive either. :thumbsup

These (conventional but brighter) ones seem a fair deal at £17.50 a pair. I use ABD quite a lot.
