Hi James, your car looks great!! I think I need to get mine detailed!

Having seen your lights, I'm going to have to order the kit! You mention that your detailer added in the extra sanding and buffing - I thought that was part of the job? You seem to have to sand with all these kits?

Thanks Graham. Apparently to cut the previous Uv protected layer back he had to use the harsher sand paper and use a machine buffer. The instructions just said to polish by hand and use the supplied 1000 grit.

Graham, there's a guy in Glasgow called Gordon Muir (http://www.defined-details.co.uk)who I'd reccomend highly. I'm not sure what kind of budget or what sort of money you would be looking to spend and he's quite busy but he might be worth a call even to explore options.

You will have to sand with all the kits to remove the damaged top layer of the plastic, I wouldn't worry too much about not having a machine, the machine is able to do the job much quicker and with much less effort than manually doing it by hand, you can use an orbital sander providing you can get the correct grades of wet and dry for it. That said manually sanding is safer as things go wrong a lot slower.
It you have a look on YouTube search "wet sanding headlights" or "restoring headlights" you can usually find a pretty decent informative video, Junkman2000 and ammoNYC are good if you have oodles of time to kill but there will be other videos which show you what you are after. (avoid the toothpaste ones they are just for lightly discoloured headlights) http://youtu.be/eP1YlZJbV7s is a decent enough example. The only thing is polishing by hand will take you a bit longer but I'd depends what system and grades/polish you buy :D hope this helps!

Looks amazing mate, bodyshop are doing mine next week while the car is in.... Would it be rude to ask what he charged for this?
