Snowball effect !!

Post by das882 » Fri Mar 25, 2016 5:50 pm

It all started off with some drips of water on the garage floor under the front passenger side of the car, after removing the inner wheel arch and the LH indicator it looked as thought the Jubilee hose clip was perhaps loose so I managed to get a turn on it.....I took the car for a spin but it was no better :( Anyway after drying everything off as best I could and starting the engine I could see more drips in that area...so I thought nothing else for it but to remove the front clam. That's in its self was a struggle as a few of the bolts were badly corroded, why Lotus only use Stainless bolts where they are seen I don't know.....it's the ones that are unseen that the problem!. Turned out to be the plastic end cap on the radiator that was leaking (a common fault) so it was duly removed only to find that the aircon rad was on its last legs too, so that meant replacing the filter/dryer as there is no point in fitting a new rad and not renewing it! ...Then there was quite a lot of corrosion on the upper wishbones so I have decided to replace them....the brake hoses are a bad enough job to do with the clam off I thought I'd be as well changing them out for SS braided ones to future proof them. As it's Easter weekend I won't get the parts until Tuesday....I don't know what it is but I always seem to do jobs like this at Holliday times ie, Christmas, Trades !!!
As a footnote the dealer I bought the car from is picking up the tab for the 2 rads and pipe work, :D :D
