Lightweight Flywheel

Post by pshanks76 » Sun Apr 03, 2016 11:02 am

Anyone fitted a lightweight flywheel to a k-series? Was there a noticeable difference and any issues?

Cheers, Paul.

VHPDs come with one as standard AFAIK.

I wouldn't do it . . . having done it . . . If you have a tweaked engine it's idle control will have to be spot on if you don't want it stalling . . .

Cheers. The 135r isn't VHPD but I do have Piper cams fitted so the idle is slightly erratic so probably worth giving it a miss!

You stall it more, Engine rev's more freely but pulling away takes some getting used too.

Edited to add that from memory I have a 135 head with 135 cams with a 4-2-1 exhaust. I only did the flywheel because it was cheap and I was having a clutch fitted at the same time.

Depends how much is taken out of it - a little lightening will make little difference and not be too noticeable, a lot of lightening will make a bigger difference, and bring you the issues as mentioned above. Either way, I doubt I would bother. :thumbsup

I have one fitted. Engine seems more free revving and I've had no issues with stalling. I did fit it at the same time as a CR box and a new clutch though so hard to tell for sure what has made what difference!
