S2 Exige - side lights not working - HELP !
My side lights aren't working, but my dipped headlights do & full beam.
IIRC, you need to press the side light button first, then the dipped lights button - and then in reverse order to turn them off.
when i press the side light button, you can hear the click noise it makes - but no green light comes on.
the dipped lights work now without pressing the side light button.
the cause of the problem was the number plate bulb holder was faulty - due to an after market led bulb - the whole case has melted!
the fuse kept blowing as soon as i replaced it.
ive cut the cables to the bulb holder - as im going to fit 2 new bulb holders.
I also noticed that the cables were frayed & cut where the grommet is - so it was shorting out. - so im going to solder new cables from here down.
the fuse blowing situation is OK now - ive checked all the fuses & they are all ok. (ones in the front, the 4 under the passenger foot-well & the 2 x 4 fuse box next to the ECU)
I'm thinking - is there a relay gone? - what makes the clicking noise when you turn the lights on?
any help much appreciated
Cheers
David

In the S1 the switch in the dash can fail as a result of it filling with crud
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Re: S2 Exige - side lights not working - HELP !
On as S2 you don't need to put the side lights on before the mains, if you press the main light they come on anyway but yes when switching off you do need to turn both off individually... I'm not sure what your issue could be as they do come on with main lights anyway, strange one, I'd be looking at fuses? It is actually possible both bulbs have blown too I have some Philips white 501 bulbs here you can have for free, they're blue when not lit, they came free with my headlight bulbs. I already have white Osram LED's in there so not fussed for these

Mark,
All the lights don't work
Front sides, rear tail lights, number plate
The brake lights work, indicators, full beam
I think it's the switch, as it's not lighting up green.
All the fuses are ok
I'll by pass the switch and let you know how I get on

Re: S2 Exige - side lights not working - HELP !
change the main bean and side light switches round that'll sort it if it's the switch?? Sidelight will probably stay on so I'd not fit it all back up until you have a new switch it'll just let you know it it is the switch as you don't need the sidelights switched on at the switch to turn the main lights on? Just a though, has to be worth a try?

Hello
I switched the side lights and dipped beam round.
The switch is ok. So it's not that
Fuses are ok too
A guy was helping me there and he reckons a wire has burnt through

Re: S2 Exige - side lights not working - HELP !
Just wondering if one broken switch will stop both working because if I turn my main lights on at the switch I noticed the sidelight switch lights up too so they must be linked somehow?

Re: S2 Exige - side lights not working - HELP !
All 3 switches are linked together with a flat white "circuit board" wire
Each switch is mounted onto a small circuit board
I swapped the sides and dipped wires over. The dipped beam worked ok on the side light switch.
I don't think there's power going to the switch - hence thinking a break in the wire

I got the lotus back today from the auto electricians
Printed circuit board in the speedo clock had burnt out in result of the frayed wire shorting out and blown fuses.
Guy was brilliant(Ian Bonnyman). £90
Better than I was expecting!
