Donington Goodies

Post by Derek » Mon Mar 28, 2005 7:22 pm

Finallygot around to fitting my buys from Donington to the car over the weekend.

Removable steering wheel - got a Lotus Momo wheel from South West Lotus, and the removable kit from Eliseparts, and a Lotus horn push from Chris Neal. Absolute confusion took over until I realised the Elisepart spacer didn't come with the screws, and I was 6 countersuck screws short. A quick trip to Halfords, and the helpful assiatant (not often you hear those words together) took the necessary screws from a boss kit off the shelf FOC! THe new wheel gives a better feel and it must add about 10 bhp!

Quick shift kit - Eliseparts again and means I no longer have a gearstick digging into my leg when in 5th.

Gearlinkage kit - MASSIVE diference in gear change feel. Much more direct. I was a little cynical about this before, but it's a great upgrade.

Trickle charger - I no longer have to get the booster kit onto the battery every weekend now.

Hanger 111 Alloy switches - descended into ally tat mode.

Eliseparts rubber mats. Much better than the S2 carpet.

All in all upgrades I'm happy with, and (I think) add to the car.

Good man. Been looking for some of those selfsame countersunk bolts you speak of (the ones on the face of the wheel yeah?) to replace rusty ones... Off to halfrauds on my way home!

As for the tat... well, go stand in the corner  (I took out my speaker pods at the weekend in the search for lower weight!)

Fitted the new wheel and peed off to find that the holes are not countersunk and the screws stand proud.
