Headlamps

Post by Julien » Sat Nov 15, 2025 5:31 pm

Our Elise S2's headlights aren't very bright; it's even dangerous to drive at night

I checked, and the reflector isn't in good condition. It's not reflective like a mirror, but maybe it was originally designed that way?

Given the exorbitant price of a unit with both reflectors, has anyone ever had their reflectors refurbished (metallized)?

Julien.

Not in my case, no.

I’ve gone with upgraded bulbs from the Osram Nightbreaker range. Not sure if available in France?

They are not higher power (watts), just slightly whiter I think.

On my Elise - “S3” from 2013 - the light clusters are a little different, but altering the height / alignment of the beams to reach a little further has helped. Slightly

Also depending on country laws, you may be able to fit a compatible LED bulb. I am considering this, but I think they are expensive and may run hot. Also not sure if MOT-friendly for UK.

S2 headlights are much better than S1n
If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!
