Wiper blade

Post by dezzy » Fri Nov 24, 2006 10:01 am

I think I need a new wiper blade. Doesn't look too worn, but squeaks like crazy when used and also misses a bit of the windscreen in the middle at the bottom.

Don't want to go through a stealer for a wiper blade. Any recommendations for where to get one? Can I get a replacement that's better than the standard one? The current one is generally useless!

S1 owners went onto the S2 one a few years ago, which was a better blade, and has worked well on mine.

Dezzy, owing to the shape of the screen and the arc of the wiper arm not being fully covered by a wiper blade, there will always be a cemi-circle missed near the bottom of the screen.

Seriously though, try cleaning any crap from it, or just buy a new one from eliseparts.com. Some people recommend a silicon wiper arm, but I've no idea where that comes from. I find that in an S1, if it rains you should get the blowers on full heat on the screen setting. The warmth from the inside always counteracts the uselessness of the wiper to clear the screen :) A squirt of washer fluid every now and again, and Robert's your mother's brother.

If its of any assistance, a stealer blade costs you £30. The blades fit differently to conventional ones, but it's not rocket science. Just don't expect it to be a clip-on job :)

I replaced my wiper rubber with a Wonder wipes blade ( The JML advertised ones)from the pound stretcher . I think they were £6 for two. Worked ok for me so far but they have seen very little rain . Was mentioned either here or on SELOC.
