Wet feet!

Post by dezzy » Thu Dec 14, 2006 12:38 am

Not using the car during the week at the moment, but just thought I'd pop my head in it when I got home tonight to check it's not leaking in this crazy weather.

The roof ain't :D, but I had about half an inch of water in the passenger footwell. I didn't think this happened on the newer models!? :? Soaked it all up with a towel and have left a towel in to soak up anymore, after removing the carpet mat to dry out. No water in the driver's footwell.

Obvoiusly a warranty fix, but is this a serious job? Is it a clam off or can the seals be fixed from inside the footwell? The bottom of the footwell looks pretty well-sealed. I'm not sure, but I think it might be coming in from the side, down from the sill. That's the direction the rain/wind was coming from today.

Think I might just leave the car with MMC while I'm away over New Year to get this sorted, along with a couple of other things I wanted them to check under warranty.

 @ NOOPS 160

The fix could be any of the joints leaking, I would expect them to have to remove the clam and inspect the glued joints for gaps. Could well be a big job and may not even fix it....

PS I don't know if my chassis leaks, the roof leaks so much I can't tell!

My '04 111S (S2) leaked like a sieve from round the base of the windscreen somewhere when new - Murray's sorted it under warranty.

I'm tackling this myself next week - seats out and resealing the tub! Re-proofing the roof, and getting the £25 in loose change from under the seats!

Lucky yours is under warranty!
