Boot Leaking

Post by Clarkie » Sun Jan 14, 2007 8:02 pm

Noticed the carpets are damp in the boot. car is garaged every night but is outside all day. With all the recent rain it's not surprising. Any idea on a fix, can I adjust the engine cover to get a better seal? How do you adjust?

Undo the striker pin in the engine compartment, move it down a little, tighten it up and close boot. That should pull the boot in a little tighter though it might mean it isn't quite flush against the rear clam anymore.

Without looking take it there is adjustment on the bolts attaching the striker pin/plate to the car?

Mine's exactly the same. Have tried adjusting but as soon as there's a cloud in the sky the boot still fills up.

Have now decided this is a 'feature'. Couple of goldfish in there and job's a good'un.:D

in my S1 the drain holes in the lid of the boot always choke with pine needles etc. A length of cable run down the drain until it comes out in the wheelarch does the trick.
