Hi all,
Recently fitted my CRP but found a piece of the flexi in the cat...

So I'm looking at an Elise Parts Flexi link pipe. Anyone changed this, if so how much of a PITA is it? (Aside from crappy rotten bolts!

) I can't be bothered to take the trays off and look!
Worth doing the manifold too? Or shall I just buy a 4-2-1? (I was saving for S2 suspension!

)
Thanks
Rich

I fitted one to mine. (And i'm fitting another 'std but fettled' manifold on thurs

Desperate to hit the 140bhp mark on a std engine

) It's no bother, just make sure your not shy with the WD40 and use a good single hex socket with a wobbly extention to reach the tricky nuts. The Elise parts frontpipe is good quality. I remember reading somewhere that a std engine will actually lose a bit of power from a 4-2-1 as it looses back pressure.

But it would give good gains on a tuned motor as it needs to breathe more higher up the revs. Cant remember where i seen this though.
Edit..... get the S2 kit and pm me for the mods to get it sorted out properly. You wont regret it

Transforms the car.

Gordon,
What's this about the S2 kit? I still need to change my manifold so I may consider fitting it.
Cheers

Thanks guys,
I'll get the Elise parts link and keep saving for the S2 suspension (Or not and just buy it on Credit!

) I've got a week off in a couple of weeks so that may clinch it! Mind you I have a S1 Landie to repair, a Cortina V6 lump to rebuild and this flexi to fit.... Do I need another job to do?
How do I check the ball joints for wear? I did jack the little bugger up and levered each wheel but felt no play or slack, but after 8 years they must be knackered?!?!?
Oh and any tips on a quick and dirty geo set up for the new suspension? I will be in the Midlands for that week and I'm unlikely to be able to get a geo!

measue the ride height withthe car sitting on a flat hard level surface before you begin and set it to the same afterwards which should get things so so. If you are only doing the shocks then you need only be concerned about the ride height and corner weights which the above should sort (at least to what it was before the new shocks)

Are the S2 shocks adjstable? I didn't think they were...? The problem is that the kit SteveB sells changes the rake, so it must bugger up the front camber something rotten.
Just ordered my new flexi from elise parts

so the S2 kit is on hold, for a little while anyway...!
I'm off to Cyprus with work in March (Horrible, I have to work 5 whole days in 2 weeks!) so that *should* save me a bit of cash...
(If I don't spend it on Carlsberg, Kockinelli and Keo "I can't believe it's not" Gin

Fair point but it probably won't be too bad. Does the back go up or the front down or both? You may only have to change one.
If you need shims i have some and there is a club bag of them kicking arround.

You will need to do the geo. Plus the new ride heights will work better with revised settings. The full car gets lowered, the front just comes down 10mm more than the rear.

...and you can choose a variety of overall ride heights....
But yeah - the rake is always 10mm down on the front.
