I know its been discussed, but what was the fix to prevent the barrel going into door and sticking?

Unscrew the round reflector on the inside of the door and a good spray, inside of the door at the back of the lock, of WD 40 or similar - then give it a few pushes in and out and that should do the trick

Well it has done on mine anyway

The WD 40 guys do some sort of silicon spray which works wonders.

Lithium grease, aka white grease, waterproof, sticky and lasts ages. WD40 runs out or evaporates too quickly

Noted... For a temp fix I have sprayed grease directly round the edge which has helped a bit. Wife is using car tomorrow and I dont want her complaining that it is a cr@p car coz cant open/ close door.
