Electric Boot Opener

Post by bazzam111 » Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:25 pm

Has any one got one of those electric boot openers for the S1? Cable release has failed on mine and rather than just replace it (and wait for it to fail again) was wondering if anyone had bought and fitted one?

That was me and no, it doesn't work. :(
Electric lock mech simply isn't powerful enough and just stalls. CBA to find a better one as I removed and lubed the cable and it's fine now.

If the cable is still intact then undo the cable grip in the boot and pull it out. I then sprayed a load of WD40 down the tube to clear the muck and water and gave the cable a good blast too. Cleaned up the handle end which was full of rust and crud then greased the cable with some waterproof grease stuff I had lying about. Then feed the cable back in wiping off the lumps as you go and refit the cable grip.

Job is a carrot :thumbsup

That was before christmas and everything is still running smoothly at the mo! (Touch wood!)
