3 years for me, only noticed as was trying to diagnose the earthing problem. I do drive for long periods with them on though, 12+ hours on occasion.

I had this on both lights when i bought my car. Standard bulbs though. But, then one connector was wet inside
The rear of the headlamp is protected by the rubber boot, but not the actual connector.

forgot to say, i sorted mine with a couple of connector plugs off of a 306 soldered on, then uprated the bulbs and have had no problems since.

It may well be heat caused by resistance at the junction rather than heat conducted back from the higher output bulb (though I agree the heat from the bulb is significant).
Those connectors do look quite shiny though, so probably not resistance.

Some high output bulbs can get pretty hot. I was advised when upgrading bulbs in Liz not to over do it!

What wattage were they?
I've upgraded to 80W
(yes ! 80W - never actually knew they existed)

You can get 80/65, 100/80 and 120/100 from halfrauds. I have the 100/80 fitted IIRC with no probs ATM.
