I'd say change both over.


If one is on the way out then chances are the other one will be too and you really don't want a car that's damping out one corner and not the other IMHO.

Best place to buy them? MMC or Elise parts, or anywhere else? Would a 'normal' motor-factors be able to source them?

SELOC Steve advised me to do both, as oil in them can thin/degrade over time making them less effective, however, a post of his on the forum from a long time back seemed to indicate that they either work, or they don't, and if they're working, there's no need to replace.

Dan (Jude's) reckoned it was acceptable to replace one only, as long as the other was operating normally.

They're sold only in pairs from Lotus & Eliseparts.

Fair enough, was thinking we could have gone 'halfers' on a set :D

I'll just change both and keep one old one as a spare.


Can the dampers be re-furbished?
