Hi Guys
Has anyone done this job before?
Just wondered what tips and pointers you have if thats the case?
Will be doing this on Saturday at my Grandfathers house in Bearsden, which is tremendously well equipped for such tasks.
Anyone who fancies giving me a hand welcome to join, even more so if they know what they are doing
Team so far (with Uncle Ron for back-up);

its quite easy but you need the rear up high on axle stands
pax seat out first , then cover plate over fuel pump hoses ,you need to press the connectors in to release quite arwarkd , drivers rear arch out fuel hoses loosened ( twist/pull to unseal ), gear/ hand brake cables undone and loose on floor trolly jack under tank after cover plate removed four bolts and its out be carefull off wires/plastic fuel hoses its easier to undo when the tank is slightly down as you have more space to fit hand/tools to release the fuel pipes same for reverse
it can be done single handed

I changed the fuel sender on my Cavalier fuel tank a few years back....
my top tip - make sure the tank is empty first!!
another top tip - petrol melts plastic ice cream tubs.....
Guess I should stay well away then from this one then....

and dont try too hard when siphoning the last of the fuel from the tank - i spent a day drinking milk

and burping petrol fumes

after fitting a new sensor to a mini tank.

You don't need to drain the tank on the elise - the only opening is in the top where you remove the filler neck (you can leave the pump, etc., in until the tank is out; obviously once it's on a flat floor you can then remove the rest of the gubbins.
Actually make sure that the tank is not empty - I would guess 10L or more of fuel would be better than <1L - no way would 10L explode, whereas <1L will get you to the magic 14.7:1 explosive mixture!!
However, having at least one or two fire extinguishers would be a good idea - you can probably nick them from a pub or something.
Cheers,
Robin
